Activities and Attractions
To get you around the resort, Mt Hutt has four modern ski lifts including a 6 seat high-speed chairlift that takes you to the highest point of any ski area in the South Island.
The big bowl shaped mountain caters well for all levels of skiers and riders with adrenaline pumping black diamond runs, awesome off-piste skiing and wide open trails for beginners. There is also a world-class snow school and dedicated terrain parks catering to all abilities.
If off-piste trails are calling your name, take a helicopter ride with Methven Heliski to access backcountry terrain across 3 mountain ranges.
Resort Services
For a complete range of on-mountain services, the Mt Hutt base lodge offers a great choice of restaurants and bars, a retail shop, snow sports school, medical centre and licensed crèche.
The sun deck at the base lodge is the ideal location to enjoy the views while you sip on a coffee or an après drink. Or you can head indoors and sit in front of the cosy fireplace at the Sky High Cafe.
When the sun goes down, Methven Village just 35 minutes drive from Mt Hutt is the closest location for après snow fun and relaxation. Warm up and revive with some great Kiwi hospitality at one of the many bars, restaurants and accommodation options in this lively town.
There are daily return services to Mt Hutt from Methven and also from Christchurch. Alternatively, for that ultimate experience, Mt Hutt Heliski offers a heli-taxi service to Mt Hutt allowing you to jump the queue and be the first to hit the slopes each day.
