Located within California’s stunning Sierra Nevada Mountains, Mammoth Lakes is a great starting point to explore the surrounding stunning mountain ranges and is only an hour’s drive from Yosemite National Park.

Mammoth boasts some big stats, with an impressive 10 metres of annual snowfall, California’s highest summit elevation at 3,369 metres, 1,416 hectares of skiable terrain and a 945 metre vertical drop. Skiers and boarders of all abilities will enjoy exploring Mammoth’s expansive bowls, technical tree runs, wide open groomers, steep chutes and world-class terrain parks.

Activities and Attractions

Improve your skills at the Mammoth Mountain Ski and Snowboard School, recognised as one of the top ski and snowboard schools in the world. Enrol the young ones in a children’s lesson or enjoy of the many family friendly activities, including a dedicated Snow Play area.

You can also choose from motorized Snowcat tours, guided full-moon snowshoe treks, cross country skiing, dog sledding, tubing or snowmobiling, scenic gondola tours or an après ski massage at one of the many day spas.

All season long, Mammoth boasts engaging and fun events, including elite skiing and snowboarding events where guests can witness some of the world’s most elite skiers and snowboarders compete.

After a day exploring the slopes, explore the lively village of Mammoth Lakes which is home to boutique shopping and premium outlet stores. Choose from over 65 restaurants and discover the diverse après ski scene.  Nearby, family friendly June Mountain is a locals favourite where you will find additional shops, bars and restaurants.

Abundant accommodation options are on offer, from luxury big brand hotels to unique B&Bs and quaint motels to cosy cabins and ski-in, ski-out condos. Mammoth Lakes is compact and easy to navigate, with an extensive free transit system. You will find all the services you need for a comfortable stay including child care services, supermarkets, banks and a post office.

The easiest way to reach Mammoth Lakes is by direct flight from San Francisco International Airport to Mammoth Yosemite Airport, which is located just 10 minutes from the town centre. This 45-minute scenic flight is worth it for the views alone as it passes over Yosemite National Park. Mammoth can also be accessed by bus, car or private charter from San Francisco, Los Angles or Sacramento.
