Furano is one of the most famous ski areas in Japan and is quickly becoming a popular choice for ski and snowboard enthusiasts.
Located in the middle of the beautiful Daisetsu-zan National Park, Furano is one of Japan’s biggest ski resorts, boasting over 950m of vertical and long groomed runs and 194 hectares of skiable terrain.
Furano offers great variety for all levels, from fantastic new tree runs to long wide cruisers, along with spectacular views of Mt Tokachidake from almost every ski run.
Furano receives large quantities of snow (average of 8 metres) and also has more blue sunny days than any other resort in Hokkaido.

Furano is divided into two distinct ski areas, providing a diverse range of runs. The Kitanomine Zone provides good terrain for all levels, especially for beginner and intermediates, whereas you will find more challenging runs in the Furano Zone.
Those looking to brush up their skills can join a lesson, with options for beginners through to the advanced, along with a specialist snow sports school for the younger members of the family.
Furano is a true world-class resort regularly hosting the FIS Downhill World Cup along with other National and International ski and snowboard events including the Snowboard World Cup.
Resort Services
At Furano you will find a range of activities to keep you occupied off the ski runs. Choose from activities such as snowmobile tours, hot air balloon rides and snow shoe trekking. The more adventurous can try their hand at ice hole fishing or snow rafting. The kids will be kept entertained at the Kojima Academy Kids Park, which includes indoor and outdoor play areas.
The village of Furano is home to a wide range of accommodation options. You will find plenty of ski-in/ ski-out hotels, pensions and lodges to choose from, through to western style apartments and chalets. You are also spoilt for choice with over 80 bars and restaurants to choose from.
Furano is located in Central Hokkaido, the north island of Japan and only two hours from Chitose Airport. It is easily accessible via bullet train, bus or a number of luxury transfer options.
